This week I got the opportunity to go to a Trailer Park with a ministry here in Gainesvile called “The Torch”. They minister to the kids there. They go somewhere no one else wanted to go. They love kids that no one else was willing to love. “Everyday we brush up against objects of incalculable worth to him. People.” People are God’s greatest possesion. They are priceless to him. He asks us to Love them, to Touch them. To Pay attention to them!
We are afraid to touch those that are sinful, ragged, filthy, suffering people. We don’t want to go there, we’re afraid that we will catch their sin and suffering. But “Only when you get close enough to catch their hurt will they be close enough to catch your love.”
We need to touch them, love them. Who else will? How else will they see God’s love if we do not do it. It is why we are still here on earth, to build God’s kingdom. It might not seem like your buidling God’s kingdom by hugging a kid, kicking around a soccer ball, saying “Hi” as you cross the street. Because . . .
“The kingdom of God . . . cannot be stopped! . . . It may look umimpressive now, . . . but you keep watching. Only be patient. The darkness doesn’t stand a chance. It’s only a matter of time.”

I like this blog. You are a really good writer.
I did not know how you can touch so many people with this page. You always touch me. You are such a blessing.
The poor ,the weak, the smelly are all the children of Christ. As i read your column, I am impressed you feel the passion. The one pure and holy passion which is the heart of Christ. The holy spirit pours from your writing. We can only get closer to our Lord by getting in the gutter with the world. I see Christ in these faces and I believe you do also.
Awesome Em !!!
