I've started reading a new book, not that I've finished my old one but I felt like it was time for a bit of a change. Well, that and my dad was reading my book while I was home and I was excited about my new book and now I can't put it down. I'm reading Quiet Strength by Tony Dungy. I love this book, not because it's deep and theological or brings new light to the scriptures and makes the bible alive for me (which is normally why I love books). But I love this book because it's practical, he talks about his life and the lessons he learned along the way about God and Life in general.
Today I read a section that talked about success and it just really made me think, not that I haven't heard this stuff before but it's a powerful reminder.
" God's word, however, presents a different definition of success- one centered on a relationship with Jesus Christ and a love for God that allows us to love an serve others. God gives each one of us unique gifts, abilities and passions. How well we use those qualities to have an impact on the world around us determines how '"successful" we really are."
the lives of others."
This thoughts just reminded me what is important in life. Sometimes the successes in this world (like the bar exam) don't seem like success. I think most people wouldn't characterize themselves as successful but other people think of them that way. I think the only way we can be content in who we are and what we are doing, every day even if we still need a lot of work. Is to know that we are making an impact, and maybe make steps so that we do, and then rest in God's sovereignty and enjoy his beauty. Because I want to be content, I can't stand the thought of going through life always needing to be a little bit better so I can be happy. I hope you feel the same way.
